East Balt’s bakeries are constantly committed to protecting the environment by reducing and recycling waste, controlling its release into the air and water, reducing its water and energy consumption… Therefore, the company invests and strives to improve practices of its employees.
All East Balt sites in Europe:
• are ISO 14001 certified
• are recycling their organic wastes (buns and dough) in animal feed
• completed a Carbon Footprint study to measure their greenhouse gas emissions and put in place action plans for their reduction
• work on the energetic performance optimization to reduce their gas, electricity, compressed air consumptions…
As an example, some sites implemented a heat recovery system on the oven chimneys and use it for building heating or process water pre-heating.
